Adjusted EBITDA is a non-GAAP financial measure that Acacia’s management believes is a useful measure of the financial performance of the ongoing Printronix business and expense structure. [Adjustments made by Printronix in calculating Adjusted EBITDA exclude one-time benefits from COVID-19 government support and loan forgiveness, one-time deal expenses, discontinued fees related to the prior ownership, and restructuring cost savings from prior ownership’s previously announced cost and location expense reductions.] Adjusted EBITDA is one of several metrics that Acacia’s management used to evaluate the purchase price of Printronix. Historical results of Printronix are not indicative of its future performance.

Irvine, CA, June 29, 2021 – Today Printronix is announcing our new P8000 Plus series of printers offering improved print quality, optional OpenPrint PDF & PostScript support, optional 802.1X & IPv6 support, and compliance with the latest IEC safety standard. This important announcement enhances the ability for Printronix Line Matrix technology to interface with changing system and network environments, while remaining rooted to the ultra-low operating cost, industrial reliability, and sustainability that only Line Matrix technology can deliver.

Leading supply-chain enterprises around the world have for decades relied on Printronix Line Matrix Printers for printing business critical documents used in the production and movement of goods.  With this latest announcement, Printronix is once again demonstrating its longstanding commitment to Line Matrix technology by ensuring it remains compatible with changing system and network environments, and fully capable of producing high quality text & barcodes … including QR Codes.

The P8000 Plus announcement encompasses ASCII Models P8C15 and P8C20, and Hanzi Models P8PH6, P8CH6, P8ZH6, and P8CH8.  Improved print quality on these models is obtained through the use of hammertips that are approximately 19% smaller.  As a result, text and barcode definition is improved for both single and multi-part printing.

Businesses intending to migrate to a new ERP or WMS platform in the future can safely invest in the new P8000 Plus, knowing that their new printer(s) can be easily upgraded with Printronix OpenPrint software to enable PDF & PostScript printing.  The OpenPrint upgrade includes 35 PostScript fonts, in addition to support for embedded PDF fonts, and Printronix SureScan for optimal linear barcode readability.

For businesses who are, or will be, adopting 802.1X and/or IPv6 to take advantage of increased network security, performance, and visibility, P8000 Plus models can be upgraded to allow for connectivity to 802.1X and IPv6 networks.

Consistent with all previous generations of Printronix Line Matrix Printers, the new P8000 Plus models carry forth the legacy of:

  • Ultra-low cost of ownership – Approximately 1/5th the consumables cost per page of laser
  • Unmatched tolerance & dependability within industrial environments – Withstanding heavy-duty usage, extreme temperatures, humidity, and airborne contaminants
  • Highly sustainable – Less energy consumption, greater longevity, and considerably less consumables waste than business class laser printers

The planned General Availability of P8000 Plus models is August 31, 2021. For more information on Printronix P8000 Plus offerings, visit our website at: www.printronix.com

“Our strategy to accelerate the growth potential for Printronix’ Thermal business and to present a broader choice of solutions to our enterprise customers drove our decision to sell the Thermal business to TSC Auto ID.  TSC’s strength in AIDC product development, its breadth of product portfolio, the ability to expand Printronix’ commercial footprint, especially in Asia, and the ability to get economies of scale within the supply chain, made TSC Auto ID a logical choice,” said Printronix Chief Executive Officer Werner Heid.

Printronix’s recognized excellence in the Industrial printing segments is the optimal addition to TSC’s strong base in desktop printing. Additionally, Printronix’s strength in the Americas and EMEA will also help both companies accelerate growth in these regions. We are very excited to be joined by our new team members, and to create a broader and more competitive product offering for both customer bases.”

The retained business will operate as Printronix, LLC, focusing on our core impact technology, where Printronix holds the leading global position.

Heid said “The sales of the Printronix Thermal business will enable us to maximize the business opportunity for the remaining impact printing business, which continues to offer significant value in terms of unmatched reliability, lowest cost of operation, robust media handling and inherent ‘green’ benefits. Furthermore it allows us to partner with our enterprise customers and leverage our intellectual property to expand our product & service offerings into adjacent printing markets and to invest in new emerging industrial printing opportunities.

The transaction is scheduled to be completed by January 2016.

IRVINE, Calif., — Printronix Inc., a worldwide leader in business-critical printing solutions, today gave IT buyers worldwide yet another reason to select line matrix printing technology by introducing the TallyGenicom-branded 6800 series. With new flexible designs, adaptable functionality and manageable savings, the 6800 series proves again that line matrix is the most competitive technology for industrial environments. Line matrix is designed for users in manufacturing, distribution and logistics, government, banking and automotive who need to print invoices, shipment and transportation documentation, bank statements and product compliance labels. Users can expect maximum uptime, low total cost of ownership, a small footprint and reduced noise from the 6800.

“Our new 6800 series reflects the diverse global usage of line matrix technology today,” said Mark Edwards, senior vice president, global sales and marketing, Printronix. “IT leaders will value this new series, whether they are replacing installed legacy printers or embracing line matrix technology to reduce printing cost. Line matrix is still a mainstay solution, recognized as a flexible technology with improved user experience, local language functionality and operational efficiencies.”

Line Matrix Technology Trumps Laser in Industrial Printing
Line matrix cartridge printers offer significant benefits over laser printers, realized through energy savings, cost per page, reliability in industrial environments and media flexibility spanning multipart forms, oversize media, peel-off labels and card stock. Every aspect of the line matrix printer is designed to deliver higher reliability, 24/7 productivity, faster throughput and greater resistance to rough handling and hazardous environmental conditions. In addition to energy savings and substantially lower consumables cost, line matrix printers also have a much longer life cycle then laser printers.

“When you factor all these elements together, line matrix printers provide a substantially lower total cost of ownership over the life of the product,” Edwards said. “That’s why industry leading companies have replaced their laser printers with TallyGenicom’s line matrix technology and continue to reap the benefits.”
6800 Printer Packs Even Greater Punch

In a world of expensive-to-maintain laser printers, line matrix cartridge printing offers technologically superior relief. With the new 6800 series, Printronix pioneers advancements to make line matrix printing more competitive than ever with its TallyGenicom innovation:

Flexible Design. New modular enclosures improve reliability and occupy a smaller footprint while delivering location and installation flexibility. Keeping pace with today’s technology is easy with new USB 2.0 connectivity, a larger LCD screen and intuitive menu navigation system included as standard features.

Adaptable Functionality. The 6800 series features a broader selection of models, with the introduction of a Tabletop Printer and updates to TallyGenicom’s popular Enclosed Pedestal printer. Companies that require multiple-part forms will welcome PowerPrint™, a new feature that delivers improved print quality with increased clarity and darker print.

Manageable Savings. From its backward-compatible cartridge ribbon that reduces inventory management costs as well as ordering and installation confusion, to its remote diagnostics, the 6800 is a smart purchase. In addition, users save even more money through improved energy efficiency that lowers idle power consumption and boosts operating efficiency.

The new 6800 TallyGenicom-branded series from Printronix will begin shipping immediately and is available for ordering today. The series is competitively priced, with tabletop, open pedestal and cabinet models ranging between $5,600 and $21,000 USD, excluding options.
