New Student Advice

Are you new to your school? You are most likely feeling overwhelmed, lost, and alone. Try these five simple pieces of advice…

  • #1: RELAX. Change can be frightening but don’t let it take over your life and your happiness.
  • #2: Do not push yourself into a shell. I know everyone around is you a stranger but doesn’t every friend start out that way? Put yourself out there! Maybe give somebody a compliment or find a similar interest you may have with other students. Make friends!
  • #3: Do not be afraid to ask for help. You are probably clueless about loads of things at your new school and many things probably work differently than at your previous one. Talk to your counselor, your teachers, or your classmates and ask them the questions you have.
  • #4: Be proactive! Look on your schools website and try to find out extra information. Be organized and prepared so that you do not feel completely caught off guard every time you experience something new.
  • #5: Stay positive! Your first couple of weeks might be hard but you never know what’s going to be around the corner. Keep your head up, things will get better.
