Is West Taking Over?

Staff Writer: Santana Lozano

Sunday, August 30, 2015, Kanye West sent a shock to everyone watching the VMAs on MTV. West had just accepted the Michael Jackson Video Award when he made an unexpected announcement informing everyone that he would be running for president in 2020.

Mr. West words were, “I don’t know what I stand to lose after this, it don’t matter though, because it ain’t about me. It’s about new ideas, people who believe in truth. And, yes, as you probably could have guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president.”

This moment sent a crazy wave of reactions to the media. No statement has been made to confirm or deny if West was being serious or not. Some of the women from the Kardashian family have made posts on Instagram saying things like, “Mr. West for President” and “Keeping up with the Kardashians season 427: White House Edition.”

Again, it is still unclear as to whether this was a joke or not.

Celebrity Reactions

Ice Cube tells Daily Mail Australia, “I’m voting for Kanye, who is better than Kanye to run?”

Donald Trump says, “He’s actually a different kind of person than people think. I hope to run against him one day. He’s a nice guy.”

Former first daughter, Chelsea Clinton, says, “…and even if West just saying that helps spark a little boy or a little girl who was watching the VMAs to think, ‘oh wow, maybe I should do that,’ that’s awesome.”
