Lead Story: The volleyball season may be ending soon, but the players have produced winning results and made great memories along the way. As of press time, the Lady Wolverines had compiled an impressive 24-10 record. … There are five seniors on the Varsity team that played their last home game on Sept. 17. … The regular season ended for the JV and Freshmen teams at the end of the month, but Varsity has tournaments and the State Playoffs in October, and everyone is expecting big things from them in the postseason.

In Case You Missed It: The varsity team posted a 13-4 record in the month of September, which included a seven-match win streak from Sept. 10-15. … Varsity was first place in the Sequoyah Tournament in August. The freshman team won the silver bracket at the Georgia Challenge Tournament on September 5.

Wolverine(s) of the Month: Seniors Sydney Torres, Kendall Alsup, Marissa Hohl, Sierra Griffin, and Jane Townsend had their senior night on September 17, which was their last home match where they defeated Whitfield and Walker. … Speaking of seniors, Griffin and Townsend both rank in the top 50 in the state in the digs category, according to MaxPreps.com. Griffin checks in at No. 12 in AAAAAA and No. 28 in the state with 375 digs. Townsend ranks No. 20 (AAAAAA) and No. 48 (state) with 301 digs this season.
