I understand you play the guitar and sing, are you in a band?

DE: Yes, we play stages locally. We play mostly country and some rock.

Have you played on any major stages?

DE: Actually, this past Monday I received a frantic call from someone at the North Georgia State Fair asking if my band could fill in for another band that did not make it. One of the band members’ son committed suicide. We would have filled in, but they got another band to come in instead.

What is your family life like?

DE: I have two boys, Hudson and Carter, and a wife, Becky. Hudson is the big brother to Carter. My wife is a 5th grade teacher at Woodstock Elementary School.

There is rumor that you really are not a “Dr.”, can you clear that up?

DE: I received my Ph.D. in Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of West Georgia (Go Wolves) after many years of school. My dissertation actually got published into a book titled, “Teacher Evaluation”, interesting huh?

Have you ever considered teaching Elementary grades like your wife?

DE: Never. I love teaching high school; I can’t deal with anything else. I got a taste of the younger grades a couple years ago by being an Assistant Principal at a middle school, but I’m happy with the grade I’m in now. High school kids are almost real people, so I can talk to them easily.

Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

DE: I don’t even know if I want to be a teacher now. Just kidding, I do enjoy teaching. History is my passion.
