Basketball On Ice

Staff Writer(s): Kendle Flint and Jordan Gaines

Lead Story: Due to the inclement weather last week, Woodstock basketball had two games that had to be cancelled and re-scheduled; however, we do have the snow storm to thank for the extra practice before we face our rival for the second time this season. The little school down the street filled with gold and blue will be invaded on Friday the 29, by a sea of gray Wolverines.

In addition to a stunning student section, we will be joined by none other than our own Coach Budde who will have his head shaved during the boy’s halftime. He will not be alone though, he will be accompanied by a teacher from Etowah as well, both showing their support for those who have lost their loved ones to cancer. It should be a victory for both schools, no matter the outcome, because we are putting their rivalry aside for one night for a greater purpose.

In Case You Missed It: The Wolverines are now in 3rd place and still have a shot at attending the region tournament. They took a big win over Pope on Wednesday the 27. The final score was 49-39, which keeps the boys hopeful in keeping their winning record for the upcoming game against Etowah. Winning the Etowah game and remaining top 4 throughout the region tournament will ensure the Wolverine’s a spot at state for the first time in 19 years! Let’s Go Woodstock!

Wolverine(s) of the Month: Once again, our Wolverine of the Month is none other than junior Tyreke Johnson. He is the top scorer on the team and has made all of Wolverine Nation proud with his multiple buckets and three- pointers. We look forward to see what this young man will be bringing to the table on Friday’s game against Etowah.

Quotable: A previous Wolverine of the Month, Cameron Crowe wasn’t as encouraging as he was confident about the game against Etowah. He told us that we should expect to see him “drop 35 points against the Eagles.” We look forward to seeing Cam make that happen!

Off the Court: The boys are back together! The ice on the roads couldn’t freeze them out forever. If you are ever trolling the parking lot right before a game, BEWARE! They might be piled into a car, headed out to Chick-Fil-A, with explicit music filling their ears. If you don’t spot them right away, keep your ears open, you will hear their music blasting out of a cracked car window. With food on their minds, the game in their hearts, and friends all around, they seem to lose sight of what is right in front of them… pedestrians on the road. So please, APPROACH WITH EXTREME CAUTION!

By the Numbers: Nothing can stop these boys now! With their winning record of 11-9, the boys are confident in the fact that nothing can slow them down. With Coach Clarke being their biggest motivator and fan, the Wolverines don’t want to let him down.

Looking Ahead: The Wolverines are still pushing for their team to make it to state. We still have a shot! For the first time in 19 years! Just like Coach Clarke said, “19 years of mediocrity ends not just today, but everyday.” We hope to see all of Wolverine Nation out tonight in gray, in Etowah’s gym. Let’s “pluck those Eagles!” Go Woodstock!

It is beautiful value sufficient for me. Personally, if all webmasters and bloggers made
excellent content material as you did, the internet will probably be much more
    useful than ever before.
