Serving up State

Staff Writers: Kendle Flint and Claudia Miklosik

Lead Story: Girls and boys tennis have been working every day to keep moving their season in the right direction. Both team’s hard work has kept them from losing no more than three matches each. The boys are currently 12-3 and the girls record is 11-3.

In Case You Missed It: The girl’s tennis team recently had a match against the Roswell Hornets. This was a highly anticipated game. The Wolverines have never won against the Hornets before, but that all changed this season. Woodstock had their first ever win against Roswell and went 5-0 against their competition. This match boosted the players’ and fans’ morale just in time for the big match against Walton on March 29, 2016. We hope to see the girl’s tennis team make history again.

Wolverines of the Month: After interviewing the girl’s head coach, Jeff Wagner, he told us that he has two ladies on his team that have improved tremendously. Their names are Megan Hackett and Sydney Bridge. Hackett is considered most improved in singles and Bridge is considered most improved in doubles.

Quotable: Matthew Hannon, a senior tennis player, has very high hopes for the rest of the season. He told us that they boys are going to “win every set that comes their way. We are snapping necks and cashing checks from here on out.” Very well put, Matthew. Wolverine Nation hopes that the gentlemen’s tennis team can live up to that motto.

Super Stat: A junior here at Woodstock, Jackson Wood, is awarded with this month’s Super Stat for his amazing record this season. Wood is 11-2 and is striving for even more victories. He told us that his goal is to finish out the rest of the season, winning each of the remaining matches. Good luck Jackson! We’re looking forward to seeing all that you can accomplish!

Looking Ahead: While the girl’s tennis team has off for Spring Break next week, the boy’s tennis team will be practicing very hard to get ahead for the potential match that could determine the rest of their season. As of right now, the boys are waiting to find out who they play in region playoffs. Today and tomorrow will be a next few highly anticipated days for these boys. Tune into the next article (coming next month) to see how this all went down!
