The Campaign of the Future: Making America Grow Again

Staff Writer: Heather Abler

Donald Trump first announced his economic plan in the city of Detroit, Michigan at the Detroit Economic Club on August 8, 2016. The republican nominee started by stating that when American citizens were lead under an “America first” policy, Detroit and many other cities in America were booming.

Hard working Americans went to their jobs every day and brought money home and food on the table. Now, 40% of Detroit residents are in poverty, and half of them do not work. He claimed that Detroit is the, “living, breathing example of my opponent’s failed economic agenda.”

Trump told the crowd that his economic plan puts America first. If he is elected, he will lower taxes, especially for middle class Americans. No one in America will pay to the extent of destroying jobs. Under his plan, “no company will pay more than 15% of their business income in taxes”, which greatly benefits small businesses.

He says Hilary’s plan will over tax them and put them out of business. His plan will reduce the cost of childcare, and no family will have to pay the “death tax” anymore.

Second, Donald Trump wants to keep jobs and money in America. He complained that President Obama issued 400 new major regulations since he took office, which has cost America’s economy nearly $100 million or more. If he is elected, he stated that he would place a temporary suspension on new agency regulations.

He claims that this will give American companies the confidence to “start hiring for new jobs, and expanding business.” In addition, he will eliminate all regulations that are not necessary, do not improve public safety, and destroy jobs.

Finally, Trump discussed trade reform. There will be “strong protections against currency manipulation, tariffs against any countries that cheat by unfairly subsidizing their goods and a renegotiation of NAFTA” (North American Free Trade Agreement).

He says the core of his plan is trade with China. He thinks that enforcing property rules could save a huge number of American jobs. He wants trade deals that will bring back money to the United States, not the other way around.

Besides basic economic failures that are blatantly obvious to those not brainwashed to support this vile man, Trump has shown clear signs of being racists, sexist, ableist, homophobic, trans-phobic, etc on numeral occasions.

Considering the man has gone bankrupt multiple times despite being born wealthy is a clear sign he should not be trusted with something as massive as the american economy.
