Activities This Month Has Woodstock’s Locals Excited to Start the Fall Season

Staff writer: Hannah Johnson

Every year during the month of October, the historic town of Woodstock Georgia holds many fun-filled activities as well as puts up cool, spooky decorations up suitable for all ages. These events and decorations will be sure to get you in the spirit of fall, as well as totally scare the pants off of you!

One fall-themed thing you will see this year will be as soon as you drive down main street. Scarecrows made by companies, stores, schools, and local organizations have been lined up all through town as advertisement. All proceeds made from the Scarecrow Invasion will go towards “GROW”, which stands for “Green-Reaps-Opportunity-for-Woodstock”.  This organization creates and implements great design initiation for the Downtown area community. The money will help further “beautification” of our great town.

Another going on this month in Woodstock is sure to have you begging and screaming for your mommy. The “Tail of Terror” is an annually opened haunted house located on Rope Mill Road. It is opened every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, during the month of October. If you really liked the rush and experience of a good haunted house, I highly suggest this one. Plus, if you bring a canned good, you could receive five dollars of your purchase of a ticket. All proceeds made from this event will go straight towards charitable projects and activities in our city. I mean, come on, what more could you possibly need in order to make up your mind and visit this place. Are you Scared?

Not in the Halloween mood still? Well, this might change your mind, as well as your kid’s mind. Kid’s fest is the yearly held Halloween celebration in Woodstock. This event is held on the 31st, and is located on Arnold Mill Road, Park at City Center. There will be trick or treating, inflatables, a magician that will totally mystify you, candy available for everyone, a juggler, face paint, games, and vendors. Oh, and did I mention it is also free? What more do you need now? Instead of boring old trick or treating this year, why not bring the kiddies to “Kid’s Fest”? They will thank you. You’re welcome!

With all of these events held in our Historic city, it is evident to see that locals are very into this time of year. Here in Woodstock, our fall season definitely isn’t boring. In fact, we do have more than most cities do! Concerts galore, decorations, haunted houses, plays, and yes, trick or treating. I suggest that you take a look in our little town and see for yourself. Happy Halloween!
