Fun Christmas events and decorations all around Woodstock have locals excited for the holidays

Staff Writer: Hannah Johnson

Ah, it’s that time of year again. Presents, great food, excitement, wonder, and yes, family. All around Cherokee county this time of year many fun events are going on, the Christmas jubilee and Parade of lights, Tree Lightings, Santa Mail, and so much more! These holiday delights will have your family in a state of joy and happiness.

Do your kids have letters and gift lists they want to send to Santa Clause? Well say no more, the Santa Mail mailbox is set up and ready to be filled and sent off to the north pole! Kids will not only have their letter read and analyzed, they will also receive a personal letter back from Santa himself! The box opened on December 1st and will be available up until December 17th, so send in those letters! Santa Mail box is located in the gazebo at the Park and City Center on 101 Arnold Mill Road.

If you enjoy a beautiful display of holiday lights, then you are really going to love this one. For the fifth year in a row, the Holiday Lights of Hope is coming to Cherokee County to spread that wonderful spirit of cheer this season. This is an annual community celebration that is honoring the Anna Crawford Children’s Center. Families can enjoy a stunning array of bright and colorful LED lights, including an animated display, a thirty-foot-tall Christmas tree, a seventeen-foot-tall reindeer, and a fifteen-foot-tall snowman. Kids will also have the chance to meet and take their picture with Santa!  “It was great last year, so I am excited to see what is out this time around!” Says Alice Balogh, mother of two.

This next event has already passed unfortunately, but don’t worry, there is always next year! This event is held annually in Downtown Woodstock, and every year the locals get super pumped about it! “It was cold and miserable, yet I loved every second of it.” Says Jones Smith, frequent visitor. This is just one of the many things said about this fun event. There is something in it for everyone, music, floats, dancers, etc., and the decorations and lights all around Main Street created a beautiful winter wonderland. Try to make it next year if you can, because this is fun sight to see!

Even though this last event is technically not in Woodstock, it is very close by and I suggest that you check it out with the little ones. Santa is at Town Center mall now until the 22nd of this month. Kids can meet Santa and tell him everything they want for Christmas, as well as get their picture taken! If you have the time I really think you should go, the kids love it and you will be able to see their eyes light up with enjoyment and wonder!

I hope this list gave you some ideas of what you and the family could be doing around this time of the year. You will have an amazing time and be able to share it with the people you love so dearly.
