Lead Story: This year’s Woodstock Baseball team is off to a hot start as the season is starting to wrap up. The wolverines are being leaded by 10 seniors this year and most of them have a great career ahead of them at the next level. Nolan Tressler is one of those leaders going on at the next level. He stated, before the baseball spring season started that he is committed to the University of Georgia Southern. Another senior that is going to division one is Brant Hurter, who is going to a yellow jacket at Georgia Tech. These two very successful seniors aren’t heading out of Woodstock without success. The team currently is 13-9 as the end of the regular season comes to an end. Not only does this year team been hot off the bats but have a great infield and outfield. Also, they have one of the best pitchers in the region this year with Brant Hurter. Even though there are many big impact seniors that are leaving at the end of the year, the future still looks bright for your Woodstock Wolverines Baseball team.

WOTM: Brennan Malone- Malone is a one of the many star baseball players on this year’s squad. He is a Sophomore with a lot of talent and is great at both fielding and hitting. It is pretty impressive that at such a young age Brennan is dominating the field. When I asked him about what makes him have such a big spark for his team he told me his dad’s pancakes make him have a great day. Malone is one of the best upcomers in the sport for Woodstock but he also has a head start to leading his team to new heights over the next couple of years. With that in mind he has himself set up for much success at the next level. The star shortstop has many offers, including Clemson and FSU. However Brennan just recently verbally committed to a near-by SEC school in South Carolina. Not only does the future look bright for our next year’s Baseball battling wolverines but the future is certainly glistening for this young ball player.

Quotable: We were lucky enough to get a word with the coach on the hot start by  the baseball. According to him they improved as he stated ” The guys have worked harder and put in a lot of work over the summer and the beginning of the season. We have steadily grown as a team.” Surprisingly, the team hasn’t changed their preparation for  games as he stated “We kind of take each game the same, we put in some different stuff during practice to prep us for each upcoming team.” The baseball team is rolling right now as their off to a 13-9 start. Led by star player Brennan Malone, the baseball team has a bright future.

Stats: Not only is the baseball team rolling offensively, there doing it on the other end to as they have not given up over 4 runs in a game once this season according to coach brown. The boys soccer team has also scored a goal in every game except for their lose against Etowah. Recently, the Boys Track team had its county meet and had many great outcomes. For the 4X400 your wolverines were able to grab first with Joshua Jaqua, Alex Petz, Jabari Overton, and Daniel Galagarza all grabbing gold medals. Also, senior Austin Bailey won his event, the 1600 meter. Winning silver for county: Alex Petz for high jump, Hunter Ongari for Discuss, Daniel Galagarza for the 400 meter, Josiah Jaqua for the 800 meter, and Austin Fuller in the 300 hurdles.

Off the Field:  The baseball team isn’t just winning on the field. Outside of baseball, they go to elementary schools and read to little kids twice a month.

Looking Forward- The Spring Football season begins soon in early May. They will have a showcase game here at the Wood against the Kell Longhorns later that month. The soccer team has some home games begin of the month of April all throughout the first week. The lacrosse team also has a game tonight taking on Riverwood at 6pm.
