Lead Story:   The Woodstock high school’s tennis season has come to end.  They fell to Collins Hall  3-2 in a very close and entertaining match. This also marked the last game of star player Jackson Wood as a wolverine since he is a senior and will be attending college next year.  Despite the negatives, this was a very successful season. They made it to at least the sweet 16 for the second straight year and seem to be establishing a winning culture. Despite losing Andy Salame and Jackson Wood next year, the team is full of young talent and a winning culture.

ICYMI:  The baseball team has started out the rolling as they have beat wheeler by a combination 0f 9-0. What is most impressive is their defense as wheeler was shut out both times by our amazing defense.  Despite an off season, the lacross team defeated Hill Grove ina thrilling 10-9 victory  The soccer team is coming off a heartbreaking 1-0 playoff lose on Thursday to Pebblebrook.  Despite the loss, the soccer team did have a great seaon is they finished top 4 in the region and went 9-6-1.

WOTM:  This months WOTM has to go to Jackson Wood  despite many others deserving of the award. He has meant everything to the tennis team and it will be very hard to replace a talent like Jackson. He has been playing tennis for almost his whole life and you most likely catch up practicing his craft in the deer run tennis courts. Jackson isn’t the only one who plays tennis in his family, his sister Alonna is also very talented at Tennis. In conclusion, wolverine nation will miss watching Jackson dominate tennis and wise him nothing but the best.

Stats: The Baseball team is heading into the playoffs with  a promising 18-13 record. The team is also sitting pretty well in their division as they rank in the  top 3. The soccer has only failed to score a goal in only 3 games, which is pretty darn impressive. The tennis team has also made it  to at least the sweet 16 for two straight seasons. Finally,  despite losing in the playoffs, the soccer team did make the playoffs for the second straight year

Looking Forward : Spring football is here, and we are approaching the season faster than some think. Spring Training has already started and Sophomore wide receiver hunter Leonard feels confident about his steam. He stated ” I feel we will build on our playoff experience from last year and take it to another level next season.” Those are strong words of confidence.  The baseball continues its  playoff battle with Wheeler

Quotable:   When I asked Ramon about the heartbreaking playoff exit he stated ” A lose like this will do nothing but motivate us to work harder and we will come back stronger next year.” Also when I asked how the team will be impacted without Jackson Wood next season he said” we can’t replace the type of player and leader Jackson is, however we have a lot of young talent and I feel we will still be back in the playoffs next year”.

Off The Field:  There is a lot to like about next year’s team. Lead by first team all-state defensive tackle Latrell Bankston, this team can do even better next year. However, I also learned how important it is to work on your craft even outside the field. When I asked sophomore wide receiver Hunter Leonard he stated ” I go to the gym every day to work on my upper body to get stronger and better prepared for next year”. That’s just a little of the hard work that comes with being a wolverine. Finally, I asked Hunter how far will the varsity football team make it next year and he said with a smile ” All the way to the state championship.”
