Rehabilitation for a horse

For the final article of the year I talked to senior, Samantha Warren. I have known Sam through mutual friends and I remember her telling me about her senior project and I thought it was amazing. I wanted to get some more insight on what exactly she did and how she is ending her senior year.

What is your senior project?

My senior project was the documentation of the rehabilitation of three separate horses in different health conditions, breeds, and ages.

What’s the most difficult part of your senior project?

Probably getting pictures and information; most of the vets I worked with were very busy, so it was hard to find a minute to just talk to them or get pictures of procedures

What steps have you taken to complete your senior project?

I gathered my patients, got my project facilitator, documented a ton of info, took hundreds of pictures, I was out at the barn like every day for three months

Is this what you want to do as a career?

No it is not.

Who is your project facilitator? and how did you find them?

My project facilitator is Candace Taylor. She is the owner of the rescue and actually the owner of the barn that I board at so I’ve known her for awhile now.

Graduation is approaching quickly, what has been your favorite part of high school?

My favorite part of high school has probably been the friends I’ve made. They’ve been my rock in the hard times and there are a few that I’m sure I’ll know forever.

What will you miss the most?

Not having major responsibilities and honestly having something to do everyday, college can be lonely :/

What is your favorite memory of high school?

Probably the friends I’ve made.

What are your college plans?

I plan to attend KSU in the fall and I will begin my major in Biomedical Engineering

Do you have any tips/advice for the upcoming seniors?

Don’t stress, it may seem like a lot at first but honestly, it seems like September was last month and here I am graduating in 10 days. It goes by fast so do all the things you want to do and don’t waste time stressing and worrying about what’s next. You only get to be a senior in high school once.
