Woodstock swim got off to a good start in the new year, placing 3rd at the Northwest Georgia Swim and Dive Championship and set the tone for what was to come. The region meet was held at the Cherokee County Aquatic Center; where all the teams from Woodstock’s 7A region compete at the lowest times in different types of heats. Lilly Byrne, a Woodstock senior and Tulane commit, set the new Cherokee County individual record for the girls 500 freestyle with a 4:56.64 time and the team took second place overall.

Byrne said, “People don’t know how hard the swim team practices. We have been working so hard every day to produce the results the team is getting. We are super pumped for state this year! We have some great swimmers this year, especially on the girls’ team. We should have a lot of finalist overall.”

Looking ahead at what is to come for the Woodstock swim team, the next meet is on Wednesday, January 30. It is the last meet before state meets and will be Woodstock’s senior night.
