Take a Trip Downtown

Staff Writer: Maddy LeClaire

Downtown Woodstock during the fall season is eventful and exciting. It is a wonderful place to go with family, they have live music at the amphitheater almost every weekend. Great for taking walks and looking at all of the bright colors all around you, there’s even a walking trail. During the fall season they have festivals, hayrides, and much more.

The scarecrow invasion has been around for many years. This brings lots of locals and visitors. It’s a fun way to showcase your creativity and unique designs. It adds a little festivity to the town. If it is an enjoyable day outside, you can go on a walk, shop around and look at all the cool scarecrows everyone has made. If you wanted to, you could register, it does cost money, but it goes towards Downtown Woodstock to make it an even better place! The community will then vote for their favorite scarecrow. In my early child class, we’re all making one as a class.

Let’s talk about the live music, everyone loves going, especially because it’s so close and its great music. There’s live music at the amphitheater and many restaurants. You can go grab dinner with friends or family and enjoy yourself while watching live music. If you wanted a later night you could go to the amphitheater and party it up.

“I love hanging out with my friends and singing our hearts out,” said Savannah Gilbert.

Enjoy life while it lasts.

Some more upcoming events is the Oktoberfest pub crawl. You go around to different restaurants and enjoy themed beverages and foods. Also, every Saturday morning there’s a fresh farmers market. There’s produce that are grown locally, jams, honey, meats, seafood, and much more. Fall on the Green is on Sunday. It’s a worship, fellowship, and lunch on them. It’s a great way to embrace yourself and maybe try something new. If you’re more artsy or want a more laid back night, there is a tie and talk and Woodstock Arts. You discuss topics of art in the gallery and share with the community. Not necessarily an event but if you want a sweet treat Kilwins has great candy apples to embrace the flavors of fall. They also have many more fall desserts as the fall season is finally coming.

“I love trying new things with my friends, especially during the fall season and Downtown Woodstock is the place for that,” said Annagrace Peacock.

Overall, everything is a great way to make new friends and get to know more about your community and even help the community. So, I hope this helps you learn more about the amazing events that happen locally and most of us don’t even know about. Grab your loved ones and have a weekend to try new foods, listen to new music, vote for your favorite scarecrow, talk about art, or get a sweet treat.
